Frequently Asked Questions

Before you call, check what our patients often ask.

In New York State physical therapists have what is known as “direct access” meaning, patients can legally see them directly, without referral, provided your insurance company does not place any limitations on this.  This is an advantage for patients who wanted to get immediate care.

Depending upon the complexity of your condition, you may be required to get a prescription from a doctor.

During your first visit you will  be seen for the initial evaluation to discuss the following: your medical history, current complains, pain intensity, what aggravates and eases the problem; how this is impacting your daily activities/functional limitations; medications, tests related to your health. Aleksandra will then perform the objective evaluation to assess your strength, range of motion, flexibility, etc. Following the assessment Aleksandra will set the plan of care consisted of manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, home program, patient education, short/long-term goals, and what is expected after discharge from therapy.

During each following visit Aleksandra will re-assess you to make sure the current plan of care is still appropriate for your symptoms and modify it accordingly.

Make sure you bring your physical therapy referral (provided to you by your doctor), report of your MRI or X-ray tests results, insurance card.

You should wear loose fitting clothing so you can expose the area that will be evaluated and treated. For example, if you have lower back pain, wear a loose fitting shirt and pants. For a shoulder problem, a tank top is a good choice.
